Nova Scotia Outdoors

Enjoy the largest tides in the world, tidal bore rafting, whale watching, sailing, canoeing and camping on your own island in Kejimkujik National Park. Portage rivers and paddle through unspoilt wilderness. Sleep on the edge of the forest with wolves, loon and animals to serenade you while you sleep. If you like camping it just does not get better that this. Your wood and fireplace are even ready for you in some of the more remote islands.

A camping holiday goes well with other activities and even hitting the city for some nightlife.

In fact, Halifax has parties all day through much of the summer. There are endless music festivals, busker festivals, multicultural events, food and wine tasting, open air markets and magnificent scenery.

Summer in Halifax kick-starts with the Halifax Jazz Festival –  7 days of endless performances from top international and Canadian stars.  The jazz tent is right on the waterfront so their is lots t see and do between the gigs. Its a natural harbour with a cruise ship port, a working shipping center and with many recreational boating and sailing excursions, including tall ships, the bluenose, waling tours, ferries across the bay, and the Harbour Hopper an amphibian bus and tour boat.  There are many alternatives for getting around the city. Bikes are available for rent on the waterfront and the city runs a FREE bus service in the summer.

You can also take a gourmet walking tour with Emily Forest Local Tasting Tours.

For wine tasting head over to the valley where wines and fruit of all sort florish. The wine industry has been around for many years but it has flourished in the last decade with many award winning vintages.

Nova Scotia has also been singled out by UNESCO for 3 world heritage sites. Grand Pre, a historical Arcadian settlement now also a wine district, is worth the visit. Check out the seafood all over the province, drop by the seaport farmers market to pick up a few vegetables and dine on oysters and rhapsodies breakfast wraps where you will get serenaded by the chef as he tosses a gourmet omelet for you.
