Where next? Was the question for the Avid Traveller, Calum Glenny. With Lisbon and Porto on the horizon for August 2023, an unexpected illness struck, resulting in an emergency hospital admission and surgery. With Lisbon and Porto abruptly cancelled 5 weeks of recovery followed, this generated cabin fever for Calum and his wife. For some R&R they set off on a slightly more local road and ferry trip within Argyll and the Inner Hebrides, Scotland.
Within this latest blog of the Avid Travellers’ Argyll Road Trip, (‘A dram good Argyll road and ferry trip’), Calum highlights the very best of services experienced, recommends restaurants, hotels (Loch Fyne Hotel & Spa and the Bridgend Hotel) and visitor experiences such as Bruichladdich Distillery, Islay. On his more local travels, Calum still manages to make the link with Barbados and its history and culture!
The Argyll adventure begins with breathtaking shots of Scottish castles, symbolizing Scotland’s rich history. What truly makes this road trip unforgettable is the people Calum encounters. Whether sharing stories over a dram of whisky or savoring a traditional Scottish feast, Calum experiences the heart and soul of Scotland through its people.
As usual, Calum makes it more personal and identifies local people (Niall O’Shaughnessy and Allan Logan) and staff who excel in business and offer the best of products and services available. While respecting privacy, Calum recommends both individual and business names to fellow travellers.
